The Cazenove in the United Kingdom
The stock broking partnership of Cazenove & Co was founded in 1823 by Phillip Cazenove, son of David de Cazenove who came to England from Geneva around 1740. David’s brother, Theophile, went to North America at that time.
This business developed into the leading Corporate Broker in the City of London, acting at one stage for over 50% of the top 100 Companies in the UK, with a flourishing portfolios management activity, opening offices in major international financial centres.
In 2001, the partners of Cazenove & Co decided to incorporate the firm. In 2004, it was agreed to sell to JPMorgan half of the investment banking operation: JPMorgan Cazenove. In 2010, JP Morgan purchased the whole company keeping the name as a brand, now marketed throughout the world, except in the USA and Far East.
Today, Cazenove Capital Management is one of leading fund managers in the City of London.
