Terroir and grape varietal bring authenticity to the Cazenove
Our soil of red siliceous clay (Palus secs) is generous, wet in spring and drying up during summer and autumn: ideal for vines to grow, due to their deep roots system and our precise selection of rootstocks. Our grapes varietal - Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc - are traditional in Bordeaux region.
During winter, the grower prunes vines by keeping an average of three eyes on each of the two chosen fruit branches. This pruning is called "double Guyot" (typical in Medoc) and controls the number and the spacing of clusters to come. This is the start of an optimal maturation.
